WESTERN JURISDICTIONAL
CONFERENCE 2012
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA

JULY 18-21

“Extending Extravagant Hospitality”

Our Western Jurisdiction extends from the eastern edge of Colorado to the islands of Hawaii, Guam, and Saipan in the West, and from northern-most Alaska to Arizona in the south. Welcome to the 2012 Jurisdictional Conference at the Town and Country Resort and Convention Center in San Diego, where we invite you to model our WJC vision, to be “A home for all God’s people, gathered around a table of reconciliation and transformation. As a multicultural and inclusive Jurisdiction, we seek to be engaged in the life of our communities, with confident, effective lay and clergy leadership forming disciples who live out the good news of Jesus as global citizens.” (Adopted 2004 and 2008)

At this Conference we will celebrate the retirement of the host Bishop, Mary Ann Swenson, who is a life-long, vibrant witness to "extravagant hospitality." We will use the hospitable practice of "Appreciative Inquiry" for holy conferencing together on extending extravagant hospitality to our immigrant brothers and sisters, and on launching a Jurisdiction with "permeable boundaries." We will experience lively, extravagant hospitality through vibrant worship led by our bishops and others. We will discern how we can align best to God's purposes with conference boundaries, and spend time in Episcopal Area groups to receive Bishops newly assigned for the next quadrennium. We will pray, play and feast in a relaxed environment.

How long has it been since we've had the unique opportunity to gather as a Jurisdiction for purposes other than the election of bishops? We have much to share and learn from one another. Join us this summer in beautiful San Diego!
