2022 Western Jurisdiction Pre-Conference Packet

Greetings Siblings in Christ!

On November 2nd, the 2022 Western Jurisdiction Conference will be called into session to care for the ministry and work of the people called Methodist across our jurisdiction. While the decision making of the delegates begins once the gavel sounds, we give thanks that discernment has been constant and prayerful throughout our region, in the months leading up to our gathering.

Offered here, in the pre-conference packet, are pieces of legislation received by October 10th, as well as reports from Jurisdictional Committees. Please note, the petitions have been numbered in the order in which they were received and our rules do not limit potential legislation to those received by the packet-deadline.

To all those who will join us— delegates, volunteers, observers, family and friends of those discerning, leadership and staff of our conferences and jurisdiction, Episcopal leaders active and retired— it is my sincere prayer that when people ask you what you are doing the first week of November, or wonder why you are heading to Salt Lake City, you will not say, “I have a meeting,” but you will respond clearly and proudly, “I am going to discern the will of God.” For that is our call, that is the work of the church, that is our part in this moment, as we nurture and care for this place Where Love Lives.

May You Be Blessed and Be a Blessing,

Rev. Bradley Laurvick
Secretary to the Western Jurisdiction of the United Methodist Church
