Western Jurisdiction Leadership Team, College of Bishops, and Committee on Episcopacy Convene in San Diego

Leaders in the Western Jurisdiction (WJ) of The United Methodist Church gathered in San Diego last Wednesday and Thursday to collaborate, share, and plan as a year of significant conferencing begins for the denomination. Members of the WJ’s Leadership Team, Committee on Episcopacy, and College of Bishops were present to vision for and discuss jurisdiction-level ministry and resourcing opportunities.

Where Love Lives February Resources

Faith leaders from across California-Nevada have come together to create compelling videos and webinars that will launch in February for the Western Jurisdictional campaign Where Love Lives. February’s theme is Committed to our Wesleyan roots: The inseparability of Personal Piety and Social Holiness. Three new weekly video series and the ongoing weekly Wednesday webinars will explore theological concepts with a current-day lens, examine district initiatives rooted in our Wesleyan heritage, and engage children across the jurisdiction around timeless Wesleyan values.

WJ continues being ‘A home for all’ following GC2019

WJ continues being ‘A home for all’ following GC2019

In a manner emblematic of the Western Jurisdiction, the 2019 leadership team meeting March 14 was dedicated to conversation and dialog about General Conference. Members and guests listened and joined together in the conversation.

Those gathered shared hopes for building “new wineskins” that could support both existing commitments to global mission, strong ethnic ministries, and truly inclusive church.

Bishops of The United Methodist Church provide spiritual leadership to more than 11 million persons in a broad range of settings on four continents, including North America, Europe, Africa and Asia. Historically, bishops preside over Annual and Central Conferences (regional areas of the church). They play an important leadership role in helping to set the direction of the church and its mission throughout the world.

The newly elected bishops from the 2022 WJ Conference are Bishop Carlo A. Rapanut, Bishop Cedrick Bridgeforth, and Bishop Dottie Escobedo-Frank.
